The robots are coming! You've probably read that sentence many times lately. There's a lot being written about AI right now. AI stands for Artificial Intelligence. But should you be scared or excited about the latest advances in AI? And what exactly is AI?
AI, artificial intelligence, in short, has one purpose: to create machines that can mimic human intelligence. AI is a system that can analyze, learn and make decisions in the same way humans do. It is currently used in everything from cell phones and self-driving cars to ChatGPT and X-ray machines. The development is moving fast, and it's moving fast.
There's a lot of talk about the fear that "robots" will take over our work, that many of us will lose our jobs and become redundant. In addition, there is the fear that the few who have the technology behind AI will come to rule the whole world, a kind of autocracy.
However, AI researcher Søren Hauberg does not think it will get that bad. However, in an article for videnskab.dk, he says that there is reason to be wary, and that it is important that legislation is passed in this area to ensure that there are not a few around the world with too much power. He also believes that we all have a responsibility to familiarize ourselves with what AI can do before we become overly dependent on it, otherwise we risk being run over by those who understand the technology.
