DTU High Tech Summit

Since 2017, Mr Toucans has been responsible for the website for DTU's annual event High Tech Summit - a website that places great demands on the technical solutions.

"I've actually received quite a few inquiries about who made the website, and I've been happy to refer them to Mr. Toucans." - Mark Bernhard Riis, Head of Innovation, DTU

Goal & challenge

High Tech Summit's credibility stands and falls with the website. Therefore, it is important that the website lives up to the expectations of both the users and DTU. Even though this is an annual event, a completely new website is needed every year as the event changes from year to year.

There are various content requirements for the website, which must be able to attract exhibitors, sponsors and visitors to the High Tech Summit. In addition, the website's backend must be able to be served by many different players.

Task description

"The website is really important because it is quite simply the face of High Tech Summit. Everything is gathered here: information, news and registration. And for DTU, the website is also important because it plays an active role in supporting and promoting DTU's identity and brand," says Mark Riis, Head of Innovation and responsible for High Tech Summit.

Mark explains that it is a very complex and dynamic task that they have outsourced to Mr. Toucans.

Firstly, it's almost a new website every year, as the website must represent the event, which changes every year both in terms of content and structure, including separate subpages for the different tracks that make up the High Tech Summit. In addition, the website must also follow DTU's design manual, which is also constantly changing.

Secondly, it is a website that needs to appeal to many audiences, where the focus at the beginning of the annual cycle is on attracting exhibitors and sponsors. Later on, the focus shifts to attracting visitors, i.e. capturing their interest and guiding them safely to the registration process. Of course, these periodic changes also require ongoing changes to the website.

Thirdly, the process behind the website is complex, partly because there are many - mainly external - stakeholders linked to the website backend, for example as content providers or as users of the information that participants register via the website. All of this needs to come together and be linked via the website.

Results

DTU has a website that represents High Tech Summit in the best possible way, says Mark and praises Mr. Toucans.

"We saw a company with a very sharp and modern approach to websites and for obvious reasons, it is crucial that the High Tech Summit website also appears sharp and modern."

Mark also found that the sharp and modern approach went hand in hand with both deep and broad competencies in websites and how to get from the idea phase to a website that works. That's why he really appreciates the collaboration with Mr. Toucans, he emphasizes.
