Oxymat

Oxymat, Europe's largest manufacturer of oxygen generators, needed a modern website that could handle the demand when the coronavirus pandemic hit.

“Both my colleagues and I are very pleased with our new website! I can definitely recommend Mr. Toucans.” – Michael Winther, Sales Manager.

Goals & challenges

As a global company based in Denmark, Oxymat needs a stable and reliable online presence to serve its many existing users and potential buyers. This became even more apparent when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020 and demand for oxygen, i.e. oxygen generators, rose dramatically.

The increased demand during the coronavirus pandemic prompted Oxymat to create a new website, even though the need had been there for a long time.

”Our old website didn't work well technically; it took too long to load and didn't rank well in search engines. In terms of content, it was probably influenced by our own enthusiasm for the products, with detailed technical descriptions that potential customers found difficult to relate to.” says Michael Winther, who has been Oxymat's project manager for the new website.

Task description

So when Oxymat was contacted by Mr. Toucans, the timing was perfect. Mr. Toucans understood the challenge and was able to outline a good solution, so after Michael had talked to some previous customers, the agreement was signed and work began.

The project began with Oxymat and Mr. Toucans agreeing on the main points; the big picture, as Michael explains:

”We had some good discussions, where we contributed our in-depth knowledge of customer types and our wishes and requirements for what the site should express. Mr. Toucans contributed specialist knowledge, a wealth of experience and, of course, a sober and fresh perspective on our products and market. We found that there was good synergy.”

After the initial discussions, Mr. Toucans created a design proposal, while Oxymat began creating content, both text and images. The images come from many different sources and therefore, for obvious reasons, have a rather uneven look, which was solved by Mr. Toucans building a filter into WordPress so that the images have the same tone and therefore appear uniform.

Result

Oxymat now has an international website that matches their needs.

The first version of Oxymat's new website was completed as expected in terms of time and resources, and Michael says that several of his colleagues were pleasantly surprised that it went as quickly as it did. Many of the project's deliverables were spot on the first time around, so minimal time was spent on reworking them.

Although Oxymat now has a well-functioning website, efforts to increase the company's online presence do not stop there. More local websites need to be created to reflect specific conditions in the various national and regional markets. So the collaboration between Oxymat and Mr. Toucans continues, as Oxymat has been very satisfied with the results.
